High-Protein Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients (Serves 6)

  • 1½ lbs thinly sliced beef (sirloin or ribeye) or ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup heavy cream or beef broth
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if finishing in the oven, or keep on stovetop.
  2. Heat oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion, peppers, and mushrooms for 5–7 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
  4. Return beef to the skillet. Stir in Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add cream cheese and heavy cream. Stir until creamy and well combined.
  6. Top with shredded cheese. Cover and cook on low until cheese melts, or transfer to oven for 8–10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
