Ingredients (Serves 6)
- 1½ lbs lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups sugar-free pizza sauce or marinara
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 20–25 slices pepperoni
- Optional: ½ cup grated Parmesan
- Fresh parsley or basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned. Drain excess fat. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–4 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a 9-inch or similar glass baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Arrange pepperoni slices in a single layer. Add Parmesan if using.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and pepperoni is slightly crispy.
- Let rest 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.
